TikTok user @timbosliceoflife12 has described some of the less-than-pleasant impact of going off to the land of nod without drying your hair.

He starts off by debunking the old wives tale about sleeping with wet hair causing colds, but then highlights some other 'uncomfortable' problems it could bring about.
In the clip he explains: "If you let your hair remain wet when going to bed, your wet hair is on your pillowcases for hours on end.
"And this mixture of moisture, as well and dead skin built up on your pillowcase, will actually cause a breeding ground for fungal infections.
"Some of these fungal infections will cause you to break out extremely bad.

"And to top it all off, you can actually start losing your hair because of this as there is a severe fungal infection called 'scalp ringworm' which is extremely contagious."
As you can imagine, TikTok users were pretty disgusted by the explainer, with one person posting: "I really wish I didn't see this because now I'm terrified."
Another wrote: "OMG me getting up now at 10.59pm to dry my hair."
A third person said: "I was about to go to sleep with wet hair, I guess not now."
But not everyone was put off. One woman said: "I've been going to bed with wet hair for 28 years with no problems - maybe everyone is different."

While another person commented: "Watches this and then decides to wash my pillow cases every day, however has no intention to stop going to bed with wet hair."
The bloke's claims are backed up by Dr. Chirag Shah, MD, an emergency physician and cofounder of online healthcare platform Push Health, who told healthline.com that your chances of developing a fungal infection on your scalp are increased if you have a kip with wet hair.
Fungi such as malassezia can cause dandruff or even dermatitis, the doctor said.

Meanwhile, a 2005 study found that the average pillow held between four and 16 different types of fungi.
The study concluded that this also had 'important implications for patients with respiratory disease, and especially asthma and sinusitis'.
And let's be honest, all this gross stuff aside, it's actually just pretty uncomfortable to sleep with wet hair, isn't it?
