Furious debate sparked over how often you should wash your pyjamas after woman's admission

Furious debate sparked over how often you should wash your pyjamas after woman's admission

We carried out our own poll on the matter to get to the bottom of the issue

A huge debate has taken the internet over, and it's all about how often you wash your pyjamas.

One certain admission from a woman left people terrified after she admitted how often she washes her sleepwear - and it turns out that people don't all agree on what the acceptable timeframe is.

Allison Delperdang posted on TikTok, asking what everyone 'as adults' does with their pjs, and unknowingly started an incredibly heated online discussion that has left those on social media fighting their corner.

The American content creator revealed that before washing her pyjamas, she wears them for multiple nights in a row, but it looks like the unofficial laundry police have come out to call her out on her apparent crimes, saying that people have to wash their nightwear after every single use.

"I need to know if people wear pyjamas, like, multiple nights in a row," she began, showing off her night clothes which were in fact a onesie.

She went on to say: "I’ve worn these, like, three nights in a row. So I need to know if, like, as adults, we’re still doing that, or should I be literally making dirty clothes every single night?"

But since then, there's been no way to get a definitive answer - until now.

Don't worry, LADbible has carried out its own poll on X, asking followers about how often they choose to wash their pyjamas.

Where domestic expert Martha Stewart claimed on TV that you should wash them every day, and The American Cleaning Institute suggests washing after three to four uses, our poll showed a much different result.

The most popular answer, with 42.3 percent of votes, was washing your pjs once a week.

In second place with 28.1 percent of the votes was every three days, followed by 18.8 percent washing once a month (that's a bit far), with just 10.9 percent saying that they wash their nightwear daily.

While many people agree that it's totally normal to wear their PJs a few days in a row - or even a week at a time - it's clear that viewers of Allison's TikTok couldn't believe it.

It seems there really are people who whack on a different pair of pyjamas every single night - with some of them a tad grossed out that she doesn't do the same.

One TikTok user commented: "No, because I am wearing them for 8+ hours, they just don't feel clean."

A second penned: "Always fresh every night. Also only use a towel once. Same with my kids."

"No! When you sleep you sweat. Why would I wear that again?" a third hit out.

Another comment, however, seriously made me think twice about washing my pyjamas - or trackies and baggy t-shirt.

It read: "I never rewear PJs... we shed dead skin cells constantly and even though it may not be dirty I can't do it lol."

Luckily, however, for all the PJ repeaters out there - there were plenty of people who've defended Allison and her bedtime ritual assuring her that there was nothing actually bad or unhygienic about it.

"I wear them for like a week straight haha I hate doing laundry," one TikTok user admitted.

"Wait. There [are] people that DON'T wear PJs multiple nights in a row???" a second clearly jarred viewer asked.

"Saving the environment and your clothes!" chimed in a third. "If it's not dirty/smelly then why wash it? I wear mine for a week in winter!"
