WARNING: Everyone hates having their favourite TV shows ruined, so we're going to go right ahead and let you know that there are spoilers ahead in this article.

Instead of finding something out that you didn't want to know, why not read about the CIA Agent who grilled Saddam Hussein, or the man who inspired Denzel Washington's role in Training DayTraining Day? If you're not worried about spoilers, however, then read on...

The first episode of the new Black Mirror season has been praised by critics around the world. It's one of the few chapters which isn't horrifically depressing, where the villain gets his comeuppance and it has a bit more humour than fans are used to.

It was also a bit nostalgic for fans of Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica, as the central plot for 'USS Callister' centres around a spaceship travelling through the universe, attempting to thwart evildoers and keep everyone at peace.

However, in a typical dose of Black Mirror mindfuckery, the ship and its crew only exist in a virtual reality on its captain's computer. It turns out that Captain Daly is actually a CTO of a gaming company and he copied the DNA of some of his most loved and hated colleagues and uploaded them onto his private server.

The episode was so successful that the director has revealed a spin-off might be in the making. Toby Haynes has told the Hollywood Reporter: "I was talking with Louise Sutton, who produced this and [BM episode] 'Metalhead', and she cooked up a brilliant idea of spinning it off into a TV series.

"I'd love to do a TV series of 'USS Callister' - it's probably one of the best pilots for a space show ever. And I made it! So I'm keen to see it as a TV series. I think Charlie [Brooker] might revisit it as a Black Mirror.

"Whether I'm the one to do it, I don't know. Being a fan of the show as much as I am, and being a part of making it, I'd love to work with that crew and cast again. It's a gift for a director."

It seems like the idea of an entire show dedicated to the cast of 'USS Callister' is a bit of mixed bag on social media, however.

It would be interesting to see how this would play out considering the end of 'USS Callister' wraps up the drama in a nice little package. The online characters succeed in their rebellion against Daly and in real life, the sick, twisted individual is left jacked into his own game and will likely die in that very chair.

There is talk about how the crew on board the ship, now captained by Cristin Milioti's character, would explore the game's universe and deal with other users. But that would then just be a repeat of shows like Star Trek or Battlestar Galactica.

The awesome thing about that episode was the contrast between the real world and the world within the game. But if they do it right, it could end up being a cool TV show.

Show creator Charlie Brooker hasn't ruled out revisiting certain episodes, although Black Mirror is built on leaving the audience a bit shell-shocked.

Could returning to a past episode lessen its impact, or add something to the plot line that we didn't need or ask for? Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
