Barrie Drewitt-Barlow’s family is known by many for being pretty unconventional, but it turns out everything isn’t quite as it seems.
The 54-year-old millionaire shares five children with his ex-husband and business partner, Tony. Fathering twins, Saffron and Aspen, through surrogacy in 1999, the pair were reportedly Britian’s first gay dads.
After the self-made millionaires split, Barrie met Scott, feeling an instant attraction to the lad 23 years his junior.
And when they began dating, people were led to believe he was his Saffron’s ex.

However, on Truly, Scott explained: “I was still kind of that straight lad so I didn't really have that attraction straight away.”
So, with Barrie feeling an attraction the ‘moment he met him’, the storyline with his daughter came into play.
“When Scott was coming out, he didn't want to just announce to his parents and everybody that he was gay so between him and Saffron they came up with this plan to say that Saffron was actually his girlfriend,” the multi-millionaire explained.
“He was literally seeing me. It kept our relationship a secret.”
The cover-up was so convincing to some that people would troll the pair with Barrie admitting ‘lots of people think it’s weird’ he would be dating his daughter’s ex.
“But the fact is, she was never his ex,” he added.
Saffron also confirmed she ‘never actually dated’ Scott, saying they were simply ‘just best friends’.
They say the backlash to people believing the ruse was ‘horrendous’, questioning Barrie over ‘how could he go with his daughter’s boyfriend’.
“If he was my daughter’s ex-boyfriend I would still have no qualm whatsoever in sh***ing him,” Barrie joked. “There’d be no problem with that at all – if they’re done, then he’s mind if I want him and that’s it. But the fact is, he never really was.”
Having been together for over a decade now, the pair share two young children together; Valentina and Romeo. Barrie made much of his fortune with Tony through a number of business ventures including a trans-Atlantic surrogacy business.
While Barrie might be targeted by ‘keyboard warriors’, he said he ‘couldn’t give a flying f**k what any of them thought’.
