Chris Watts made chilling claim in home interview after murdering his wife and two daughters

Chris Watts made chilling claim in home interview after murdering his wife and two daughters

The interview occurred a day before Chris Watts was arrested

A chilling video features convicted murderer Chris Watts speaking about the 'disappearance' of his wife and daughters before he was arrested for their murders.

Six years ago, Watts would brutally end the lives of his pregnant wife Shanann and their young daughters, Bella and Celeste, before pretending they had vanished from their family home in Colorado after a friend raised the alarm when she couldn't get a hold of her.

In the immediate aftermath of Shanann, Bella and Celeste's 'disappearance' on 13 August 2018, Chris would claim to have no knowledge about what had happened to his family.

"Shanann, Bella, Celeste, if you're out there just come back. If somebody has her just please bring her back," he told the camera.

However, by time the interview was filmed, they had already been murdered.

His claims would come tumbling down just days later when he failed a polygraph test and was subsequently arrested by police.

Chris would admit to killing his wife and unborn child while in custody and later confessed to suffocating his daughters as well.

He was later found guilty of their deaths and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Following Watts' sentencing his initial interview with Denver7 has since taken on a more chilling nature, due to his claims that Shanann and their children had either been abducted or run away.

During the interview, Chris would recount Shanann's last movements after returning to Colorado from a work trip to Arizona, before making his plea to anyone watching the interview.

His seeming lack of emotion has since been noted by the hundreds of people who have watched the clip in the years since the case, with one person writing: "He was so focused on acting calm, he forgot to act concerned," while a second added: "I can't believe he thought giving this interview was a good idea. His attempt at being a normal human being is terrifying."

The notoriety of the case would see it go on to be the subject of a 2020 Netflix documentary series American Murder: The Family Next Door - which revealed the sickening fact that Chris had multiple female penpals who believed he was innocent.

The shocking revelation would later lead author Cheryln Cadle to make contact with Watts and publish their correspondence in her 2020 book The Murders of Chris Watts, in 2020.

Cadle's book included the harrowing revelations that Chris had been 'thinking about killing' in the weeks leading up to the murders as well as his initial failed attempt to kill his daughters.
