People left stunned after man shares reality of living with chromophobia

You'd never forget it if you spilt a drink in his house

Look no matter how much you play it off to your pals, we’re all scared of something.

Maybe you just somehow manage to get yourself out of going on the really high rides at the theme park or ask someone else to get a spider the f**k out of your room for you.

And while common phobias might be of pretty usually things, there’s also slightly more unique things to be scared of - including stuff we literally see every single day from the moment our eyes open.

Like chromophobia. With this being something many of us have never even heard of, people were left stunned after a man shared the reality of living with it.

TikTok user ‘@antoshurigin’ shared a video to show what his bedroom looks like as someone with this fear - an aversion to colours.

Yep, chromophobia is defined as the fear of colours with reactions varying between individuals.

Anto shared his ‘completely colourless’ bedroom in a video that just looks like he’s used a black-and-white filter on it only he insists he hasn’t and uses items to prove it’s real.

The user showed the likes of an orange Louis Vuitton box and a red Cartier box as he said: “So as you can see this is a bright orange box with no cut, no edit - the room is actually black and white.”

His colour-lacking room features plain white bedding, white furniture and even black-and-white polaroid photos stuck up on the wall. His designer black water bottle sits on his desk alongside a white AirPods case, a black charging stand and various black and white accessories.

There is the odd splash of grey, like his laptop and interestingly, a pair of handcuffs hung up on his desk. Everything is lit by just ‘pure white LED lights’, keeping that colourless look.

“A lot of people are asking what chromophobia is, and it’s basically a fear or aversion to colour,” Anto says.

“For me, I just personally really dislike it and it makes me uncomfortable.”

The TikToker then goes into his wardrobe, where all the clothes are, you guessed it, black or white.

Anto also shared that he keeps his phone in ‘grayscale’ and uses ‘monochrome display’ on his laptop.

Users commented to say they ‘didn’t know chromophobia was a thing until this’ as one joked: “This is so 1975 fan in 2014 core.”

Others claimed it was ‘actually a type of torture’ as some said it’s ‘style’.

Though someone else shared it’s their ‘dream room’.
