We’ve all got our favourite days out we hang on to from our childhood.

From trips to Alton Towers to the local swimming baths, a handful of Brits will remember days wading through mud before trying to cling to the top of a tilting slide.

Oh yes, I’m talking about the legendary Crocky Trail. For those not in the know, it’s a kid’s adventure park in Waverton, Chester, with an adventure trail and a load of slides and rides.

But despite it being an nostalgic place for many Brits, founded back in the late 90s, people have recently been divided as the slam the ‘disrespectful’ name of one of the attractions.

Amongst the likes of the ‘Flusher’ and ‘The Sniperdrome’, there is a slide crafted nearly 30 years ago by the now retired founder of the park, Edward Walley, and was one of the first rides there.

Apparently embodying the ‘spirit of innovation and excitement that Crocky Trail stands for’, it’s an absolute adrenaline rush.

Showing some ‘half term fun’ at the park earlier this year, a TikTok video captured a mix of kids and adults on the ‘Titanic’.

The slide gradually tilts higher and higher at angle until it nearly reaches a vertical position.

People then have to try and stay up at the top for as long as they can until they end up sliding down.

But not everyone is convinced by the name, as one wrote: “Disrespectful to the dead and family to call it Titanic. Call it a vertical slide or something."

Another put: “It’s gross they call this Titanic.” With others saying the name is ‘the most distasteful thing’ they’ve ‘ever seen’.

Some called it ‘dark humour’ as they wondered if it was a ‘simulator of being on the deck of the Titanic’.

However, many wrote: “Watching people take this so seriously for being called the Titanic after going there all the time as a child is hilarious.”

As others added: “Nah cos why do people care so much about it being called Titanic it’s not insulting at all.”

On Crocky Trail’s site, it claims the ride is ‘more than just fun’ as it’s supposedly an ‘educational journey’.

“Drawing inspiration from the tragic yet fascinating history of the 1912 Titanic disaster, the ride offers a unique educational opportunity,” it explains. “It serves as a starting point for discussions about the historic event, sparking curiosity and learning among visitors of all ages.”

LADbible has contacted Crocky Trail for a comment.
