You’re sat working at your laptop like every other day, you’re going through your emails and then suddenly your head is pounding.

Or maybe you’re out having a catch up with your mates when it randomly feels like you’ve been whacked over the head with a frying pan.

Yeah, those pesky surprise headaches are an absolute nightmare and all you want to do is lay down in a dark room and sulk.

But offering up an alternative to burrowing away, a doctor has revealed a way to ‘instantly relieve headaches’ as people can’t believe it ‘actually works’.

Over on TikTok, he shares all kinds of self-help exercises from various ways to ‘instant relief’ from pain to different stretches for the body.

Now, while it might not necessarily cure you of having banging headaches, the doctor explained that there is a way to get ‘instant relief’ by targeting three key areas ‘that tend to build tension’.

First, he says to kick things off by placing two fingers on each side of your head, around the temples, and do ‘a light circular massage’. “Do this for five to 10 seconds,” he instructs.

“From there, you’re going to move down and do the same thing over the jaw joint, right by the corner of the ear. But as you do this, slowly open and close your mouth.”

And then, strap in lads, the American says from here you’re going to take it ‘to the next level’.

The chiropractor says to make your fingers into ‘rakes’ and start ‘raking the side of your head’, doing so about five to 10 times.

With those three steps complete, Dr Rowe says: “You’re probably going to notice that one certain spot just offers the most relief.

“At that point, throw more repetitions in and this is a great exercise that you can use throughout the day.”

Users were amazed by this advice as one commented: “Yo why did this actually work?”

And another said: “Omg u saved me.” Others said it ‘worked but it still hurts a little bit’ with many agreeing: “Lowkey worked a lil.”

While some said it only ‘helped a bit’, it certainly seems worth a go to attack those surprise headaches.

While most headaches go away by themselves, the NHS advises seeing a GP if: they keep coming back, painkillers don’t work and your headache gets worse, you have a bad throbbing pain at the front or side of your head, you feel sick, vomit and find light or noise painful and if you regularly get headaches during or before your period.
