A man who grew frustrated with his neighbour's refusal to split the cost of a fence replacement took matters into his own hands by creating a radical long-term solution.
In a video uploaded on TikTok, the man showed his apparent craftsmanship, although the response it generated online probably wasn't what he was expecting.

The man, from Texas, US, captioned the video: "When your neighbour doesn't want to replace the ageing fence."
He subsequently opened a gate in a newly-built fence, which then revealed a two feet gap between the new and old fences.
As you can see, the man has essentially made his own properly smaller by building a new structure in front of the old one.
"I even offered to pay for half and to do the work," his second caption read.

The petty move was explained further by the Texan in a follow up video, once again shared on TikTok.
According to the man in question, his neighbour didn't want to pay for her share of the fence out of fears he would not stump up the money for a piece of fence that was 'technically only on her property'.
With this gripe in mind, the unnamed neighbour then refused to replace any of it.

In erecting a whole new fence, the man has lost two feet or so of his own land - which he insists is a worthwhile sacrifice.
"Now we can actually use this part of the side of the house without having to worry about [the fence] falling down," he explained.
However, the drastic and, some might argue, shortsighted solution drew plenty of criticism online and a number of TikTok users have trolled the man for reducing the size of his own backyard as a result of a small feud.

"Now you paid 100 percent and lost some space in your yard," one person wrote with a laughing emoji.
"Well you just shafted yourself because now they simply pull down the old one and they have another foot of land and free firewood!" a second user pointed out in the replies.
Another argued: "So you built a fence in front of the broken one and you paid in full and did [all] the work."
The homeowner seemingly isn't phased by the troll comments either - as he is firmly standing by his solution and is clearly happy with his decision.

Each to their own, I suppose.
