A man has claimed that the eye-watering morning routine created by the American Psycho himself, Patrick Bateman, had some pretty incredible results after doing it for an entire week.
Of course, anyone who's seen the 2000 crime thriller American Psycho will know all about Patrick Bateman and his immaculately perfect looks and physique.

Bateman, played by Christian Bale, is known to look constantly perfect with his chiselled abs and flawless skin so it's a no-brainer that one hell of a morning routine must go into looking that good.
As I'm sure many of us will relate, the snooze button on our alarms every morning gets in the way of fulfilling such a gruelling routine... but one man has decided to put in that effort for us.
YouTuber Michael Hoover took it upon himself to give the narcissistic Bateman's routine a go to see if it would make him more attractive, committing to it every single morning for an entire week - and the results he claimed to experience were pretty impressive.

So, what exactly goes into the American psycho's beauty-inducing routine?
As Michael outlined, he starts by icing his whole face - which involves him dunking his face into a giant bowl of ice cold water to 'reduce inflammation and help get rid of acne'. In the movie, Bateman uses an ice pack so one would consider Michael's method a slight upgrade.
Next comes 1,000 stomach crunches, the thought of which quite frankly makes me want to crawl right back into bed.

A stretching routine follows before taking a shower and indulging in an incredibly expensive-looking skin care routine - although we can assume Michael didn't use the exact same products as Bateman did in the film.
After committing to this hellish routine for an entire week, Michael claims that his acne 'was gone' and in before and after pictures, his skin is seen looking visibly more clear.
Even though we're just taking Michael's word on the remarkable results of the routine, it's actually been confirmed that washing your face with cold water can be beneficial for acne-prone or dry skin.

According to Healthline, cold water can be especially beneficial for dry or acne-prone skin.
"If you have chronically dry skin, hot water can strip your sebum levels (oils) and exacerbate the issue, so cold water is a good alternative," Sophia Knapp, a licensed cosmetologist at the skin care and cosmetics line Oxygenetix, explained.
However, though exercise is proven to be extremely beneficial for a person's health, some people may experience more acne breakouts due to the increased sweat and oil on the skin.
And one study, cited by the Cleveland clinic, found that only 40 percent of participants felt that exercise led to an improvement in their skin.

While it's clear that we should perhaps be taking Patrick Bateman's routine with a pinch of salt - could it be really worth all that effort?
