Microwaves are arguably one of the most-used kitchen appliances out there but it's clear that many of us haven't a scooby on how to thoroughly clean them.
However, one cleaning maestro has taken it upon herself to share the vital tip and it has sent the internet into a complete frenzy.
The self-professed cleaning motivator took to Instagram to alert her 38.4k followers of the lesser-known cleaning hack and how to get the hidden components spick and span.

She captioned the short clip: "Did you know that you’re supposed to clean the vents under your microwave?"
Clearly, the internet did not.
In the video, the Instagram user removed the two grimy vents attached to her microwave with a knife and popped them in the sink for a proper good scrubbing.
Hidden from eyesight, it came as quite a shock to see the vents well and truly caked in grease and dirt from a hefty build-up of cooking.

Next, she blasts the vent grates with a cleaning spray and hot water and then go to town on them with the help of a scouring brush.
Within an instant, the once-discoloured vents were sparkly clean.
The cleaning aficionado then rinsed them off and popped them back into the microwave.

She revealed that the trays 'so much better' after looking 'so gross' before the clean.
"I was today years old when I found out you're supposed to clean the vents under your microwave," the video's overlay text read.
And it seems like the discovery wasn't only news for cleaning guru.
Dozens of people flooded in to share their reactions to the cleaning tip, with one Instagram user admitting: "Mine are nasty."

A second asked: "...wait those are removable?"
"So peeved. Just finding this out," added a third before revealing: "Immediately cleaned mine after seeing this."
Another had their own theory on why so many people were in the dark about cleaning that specific part of the microwave.
They penned: "I think the reason why we don’t know these things it’s cause the generation before us looked at instructions and just threw it away."
Fair point.
Others, however, offered their own piece of labour-saving advice.
"You can just stick them in the dishwasher, commented one Instagram user while a final person echoed: "I put those in the dishwasher."
Well, now you know.
