Here are all the baby names which fell out of favour in 2025.

Welcoming a little one into the world is a huge and life-changing milestone for parents around the world. Not only are you responsible for keeping this tiny human alive, but you also need to give the child the name they will be known as for the rest of their lives.

So do you play it safe and go for something more traditional - risking your child being the fourth Noah or third Amelia in their school classroom - or come up with something inventive, as my parents clearly did?

Judging by the most popular names used in English-speaking countries over the past 12 months, expect to hear plenty of young people with names like Olivia, Liam or Mia, which are the equivalents of the Joe's, Ben's and Jess's of our generation.

However, the list of most popular names is forever changing, with some of 2024's most popular names sliding off the top 100 and into oblivion.

When it comes to girls' names, Babycentre has noted that a total of 11 names featured in the 100 have fallen out of favour.

The list is a mix of more traditional names, such as Anna, Jade and Natalie, as well as more creative monikers like Nevaeh and Oakley.

These have since been replaced with options such as Sienna, Catalina and Oaklynn.

Here is the full list:

  • Nevaeh
  • Skylar
  • Natalie
  • Kennedy
  • Jade
  • Ember
  • Anna
  • Savannah
  • Oakley
  • Audrey

As for boys' names, there are six which no longer feature in the top 100.

These are:

  • Nathan
  • Myles
  • Axel
  • Greyson
  • Hunter
  • Max

Meanwhile, names such as Malachi, Ali, Arthur, and Nathaniel are all becoming more appealing options for new parents.

You can read the full list of 100 most popular baby names for boys and girls in 2025 here.

However, owners of the above names shouldn't despair too much, as these monikers aren't so unpopular that they're at risk of going extinct like these names are.

Which baby names are forecasted to be popular in 2026?

Want to get ahead of the trends and learn the names which are likely to be popular choices in maternity wards across the coming year?

Well, Babycentre has also weighed in on this, predicting that names such as Francis, Flora and Helena have been bumped up the charts recently.

As for areas of inspiration, the site suggests that Y2K nostalgia, classic literature, and basketball MVPs will be among the go-to places for expecting parents.
