A mum was shocked when her art-loving daughter showed her a picture that she’d been drawing that looked like something that a seven-year-old really shouldn’t know about, let alone have the idea to draw.
Jessica Borja, a mum from Cardiff, has been encouraging her daughter Ella to get into art, and she’s obviously very talented, but when she showed her the ‘shading’ that she’d been doing on a picture recently, all she could do was laugh.
Come on, look at it.
Once it was finished, it became abundantly clear that she’d been drawing her sweets and not – well – you know what.
Still, it’s a fine lesson that you should never pass judgement on an artwork before it has been completely finished.
Naturally, both Ella’s mum and dad found the whole thing hilarious, but they can’t tell their young daughter why they did, because – obviously – she’s too young to understand.
Jessica told LADbible: “I was at home sat on the settee and she was on her table sketching, [because] for Christmas she asked for art supplies, so literally every night she’s sat there doodling.
“Then, she came over and said ‘mum, look – I’ve been shading’ and I looked and just burst out laughing."
“She was like ‘why are you laughing at my picture?’ but obviously I couldn’t tell her why.
“I told her to finish it off, and then she showed me her sweets and I compared the two and said ‘oh, it’s lovely’.
“Then, her dad came home from work, and we were both peeing ourselves laughing but she didn’t understand why, bless her.”
The innocence of youth, eh?
It’s clear that Ella has some talent, as you can see from the finished work.
She’s only seven, and she can already draw better than most grown adults.
Her mum continued: “Everyone complements her on her drawing, but that one just tops them all.
“I couldn’t believe it – it’s the detail in it – but she obviously hasn’t got a clue what we’re comparing it to.
“I told her to finish it and add more detail so it doesn’t look like that anymore.”
The detailing is remarkable, that’s for sure.
Now, Ella has been receiving remarks from all corners about her talent with the coloured pencils, so here’s hoping it’s an enjoyable and lifelong hobby for her.
Jessica concluded: “I can’t tell her why; I’ll just have to make something up.
“She’s so innocent, obviously.
"Everyone has found it so funny.”
