Airline responds after passengers left speechless when shown X-rated film on every screen in the plane

This is a whole other kind of mile high club

An airline has responded after passengers were left speechless when they were shown X-rated films on every screen on the plane.

While audiences might be walking out of cinemas because they don’t like what’s being shown, that wasn’t exactly possible for this lot.

As a Qantas flight took off from Sydney, Australia, to make it's way to Tokyo, Japan, passengers were stuck with something not so family-friendly flashing before their eyes. Emphasis on the flashing.

According to news.co.au, there was a ‘technical issue’ with the plane's TVs, leading to the 2023 drama Daddio being shown across the entire aircraft.

That’s the film with Dakota Johnson where her character has a long chat with her taxi driver, played by Sean Penn.

The pair discuss all sorts of topics, including sex and relationships, and the X-rated content isn’t just chat. Daddio also features its share of sexting and nudity, which passengers claimed on Reddit was ‘impossible to pause, dim or turn off’. Oh, and yes, there’s a fully erect penis in it.

Pretty awkwardly, the one-hour 41-minute film played for roughly an hour before it was switched off.

With the whole mess going viral, Qantas said in a statement: “The movie was clearly not suitable to play for the whole flight and we sincerely apologise to customers for this experience.

“All screens were changed to a family-friendly movie for the rest of the flight, which is our standard practice for the rare cases where individual movie selection isn’t possible.

“We are reviewing how the movie was selected.”

It seems that the whole ordeal unfolded because Daddio was the choice of some passengers. Reportedly, the airline staff polled everyone on which film they’d like to watch after the issue meant every seat had to be shown the same one at the same time.

And thanks to those wanting something R-rated in the skies, the Johnson and Penn film was apparently the winner.

Eventually, crew members decided it would probably be better to shut it down and replaced it with a kids’ film as more people were picking up on the sexually explicit content.

Users on Reddit claimed: “They realised it after 40min of penis and boobs and decided to play Inside Out 2 followed by some New Zealand survivor nature show.”

As another said there were ‘audible gasps across the plane’ as parents attempted to shield their kids from Daddio playing out before their eyes.
