Five years ago today, reporter Jon Kay and his interviewee, Brenda, inadvertently made meme history.
The iconic clip filled the hearts of everyone missing Vine and not quite sure how to use TikTok just yet.
It's simple, hilarious, and a true hun response to just about any question out there.

So, what is this iconic meme, you ask?
It's Brenda, from Bristol.
You know the one: "You're joking, not another one? Oh for god's sake, I can't, honestly, I can't stand this. There's too much politics going on at the moment, why does she need to do it."

The five-year-old clip was a response to Theresa May calling another general election in 2017, and became an instant hit as Brenda's relatable words rang through every phone screen in Britain.
The brilliant meme made light of pretty much any situation – from general elections to Eat Out to Help Out announcements, or even begrudgingly heading out on another sesh with your mates.
It's hilarious, and the woman behind the meme seems just as funny when not becoming a meme.

In a follow-up interview with Kay the day after she went viral, Brenda was told she'd been trending on Twitter.
When asked if she knew what that meant, the absolute legend replied: "Quite frankly, no, because I don't possess any form of technology."
And Brenda is officially cooler than we'll ever be.
Still, some people took issue with Brenda's hilarious comments as she replied to Kay's question about the 2017 general election.
"Some people on social media say we fought for the right to vote in elections that we should be proud of doing this," Kay said.

To which Brenda replied, in a mic drop moment: "In my humble opinion, there's hardly anybody in any of the parties that you would put your life on the line for.
"We need somebody that's got a little bit of guts to get us all going," she added.
People were quick to respond to the icon's five year milestone on Twitter, with one user saying: "Thanks Jon. Cheered up my day. You could tweet this clip randomly throughout the next year… it would always be appropriate and appreciated."
While another simply put: "One of the best lines you'll hear."

Among others calling Brenda a 'legend', one user added: "Jon you're an absolute legend dude that piece will go down as the barometer of the UK public[s] boredom with politics."
And, if anyone wants to start a petition to make Brenda Day a bank holiday, we'll be firmly behind it.
