People have been left shocked after learning why Ritz crackers are ridged. Find out for yourself here:
As we all know, Ritz crackers are delightful - and very moreish. Stick a bit of cheese on one of those bad boys and you're in for a good time.

But have you ever pondered their design between bites? Ever queried why they don't have a smooth edge, as the scrumptious crumbs tumble down your chin?
Well, it turns out the ridges are with reason, beyond just the pleasing aesthetic, as explained by TikToker @kenshawn.caraballo.
In a video viewed more than 900,000 times, a young chap says: "I was today years old when I realised why crackers have ridges on them.
"I thought it was just for show but it's actually to cut perfect cheese slices for every single cracker you eat."

That's right, they're apparently designed to help you carve out that slice of cheese that belongs on top of the cracker.
Judging by the comments, it seems people across the globe spat out their crackers in shock and awe as they watched the short viral clip.
One person wrote: "HOW DOES SUCH KNOWLEDGE GO UNLEARNED FOR SO LONG"

Another said: "My life has been wasted."
A third added: "I'm f**king shook."
However, not everyone was so impressed, after putting the snack-cum-tool to work on their cheddar.
One person wrote: "They crumble. False!"

Another commented: "Yeah if they're frozen."
Indeed, I would not judge you for discrediting this TikToker as some kind of niche prankster hellbent on making innocent people the world over destroy their crackers.
However, the purpose has been verified by none other than Ritz in a video of its own, shared on TikTok.
The clip begins with someone holding up a Ritz Cracker, as a voiceover says: "What people think the edges on Ritz Crackers are for.

"Wow... So pretty... Aesthetic... Beautiful scallops."
The person then turns the cracker onto its side and rolls the edges along a slice of cheese, in turn cutting through it.
"What they're actually for," the voiceover says.
"Cut... Cut... Cut."
They then place the perfectly sliced cheese inside two Ritz Crackers to create a crunchy little sandwich.
If you think that's shocking though, wait until you hear what the seven little holes are for.
It turns out they form a satanic shape, symbolising subservience to the devil.
OK, that's not true - the perforations are made by a dough docker, to keep them flat as they bake... Or are they?
