Footage shows the moment a shark ripped off a surfer’s leg in a horrifying attack in Australia.
Kai McKenzie’s right limb showed up on the sand of North Shore Beach in Port Macquarie, Australia last week (23 July).
The pro surfer was catching waves in the morning when what is believed to be a three-meter great white shark made him its victim.
The 23-year-old managed to fight off the beast but his leg was torn off with a big chunk of his surfboard ripped off too. McKenzie rode a wave back to shore as blood pooled out into the water and beachgoers rushed to help him.

And a terrifying video (reportedly leaked) shows the lad paddling away as a large fin follows in the water behind – like something straight out of a horror film.
McKenzie is then harrowingly pulled underwater by the shark with only the attacker’s fin visible as it attacks.
An off-duty police officer was walking his dog nearby when he saw these horrific events play out and headed straight over to him. Quite ingeniously, he used his dog’s lead as a makeshift tourniquet to stop the severe bleeding.
NSW Ambulance Service Hastings South acting duty manager, Kirran Mowbray said the cop had ‘essentially saved Kai’s life until the paramedics got there’.

And unlike how most of us might have felt in a situation like this, Mowbray said McKenzie somehow managed to remain cool.
“He was quite calm and able to talk to us - he was completely with it,” he said. “He’s just a really brave and courageous young man.”
The surfer later took to Instagram to update followers while in hospital.

“Man ohh f**king man to be here right now just to f**king be able to hold my beautiful Eve and my family is everything to me, a few days ago I went through a crazy shark attack (biggest shark I’ve ever seen) which was a very crazy scene and scared the living f**k out of me,” he wrote.
"It’s so cool to see so many beautiful people support me.
"There are so many messages to get back to but I wanted to say a massive thanks to everyone for your generous donations on the GoFundMe page. We are so grateful for everything.”

The page explains that McKenzie has had surgery and is in ‘a stable condition’.
The surfer himself kept things pretty light-hearted as he shared a photo, writing: “Spot something missing?”
