A viral clip of a TV station switching from black and white to colour 55 years ago is doing the rounds on social media. Check it out:
Coloured TV is very much the norm these days, and millions of us couldn't imagine sticking the TV on at night to find Corrie was on in black and white.

However, it wasn't until the 1960s when coloured TV started to become the norm, when in 1965 it was announced that over half of all network prime-time programmes would be broadcasted in colour from the Autumn.
The clip that is quickly becoming viral on TikTok is of the moment a TV news programme transitioned from black and white to colour, seemingly while on air.
The video is from a broadcast taken in April 1967 by the old WMT-TV - a local TV station in lowa, US.

In a historic moment, the news was delivered by legendary TV news anchor Bob Bruner, for the channel now named KGAN-TV.
In the short clip, Burner sat next to station manager Doug Grant asking him what the change to colour will mean for viewers.
Grant replies: "We think you'll see a big difference on black and white receivers.
"The new colour cameras will give an improved monochrome picture and all of our new colour sets in the studio were designed with that in mind."

Burner then stands up and walks to another part of the studio where he sits down on a desk in front of a colour camera.
The frame switches over to Burner where viewers are greeted with colour on the station for the very first time.
As he is about to start his report, the news anchor said: "Well, first I'd like to say this. I feel very honoured to be chosen to be the first one involved in our big change, because there are so many, much more colourful characters around here than this reporter."

In a TikTok posted by kurlyheadmarr, people have been reacting to the historic moment.
One person said: "Absolutely amazing. To have seen this with your own eyes, I can only imagine what it was like. We have come so far."

A second admitted: "Who else thought people used to live in black and white when they were a kid."
And a third added: "We look at this technology as old now. The last 150 years the acceleration of tech is beyond comprehension."
