If you grew up in a major city in the UK then prepared to feel either offended or slightly chuffed, because AI has created what it believes to be the 'average man' from each place.

Sure, we all know the stereotypes for popular places. From Manchester? You must look exactly like Liam Gallagher, right down to the fringe.

Obviously, though, these stereotypes don't always ring true, so rather than relying the opinions of people, we've allowed a robot to present us with depictions of the 'average man' from cities including London, Newcastle, Leeds and Glasgow.

And as I mentioned before, they're not all flattering, so don't shoot the messenger.

Here we go...

Birmingham

Birmingham has got some personality about him, for an AI creation.
Midjourney

Starting with the average man from the middle of the country, there's potential for Birmingham to be the most average of them all, but this guy has clearly got a bit of individuality, with tattoos snaking from below his well-groomed beard.

He plays it safe when it comes to his clothes, though, with a lot of muted greys and browns making up his outfit, which also consists of a shocking amount of layers.

Combined with the hat, it seems the average Birmingham-dweller runs cold. It's a trait I'd have probably associated more with people from the chillier north, but then I'm not made of AI.

Exeter

We all know how long that hairstyle took.
Midjourney

Moving much further down south, and we're sticking with the groomed facial hair, though this guy has clearly put a lot of effort into making it look like he doesn't care what he looks like.

Exeter man has tousled locks perfectly styled to make it look as if he's just dried off from a trip to the beach, and with a casual hoodie and t-shirt, it's like he's just thrown on the first thing he saw but still, admittedly, managed to look great doing it.

Glasgow

Nice scarf, Glasgow.
Midjourney

If I'm learning anything about British men, it's that they apparently love a beard. This guy is a bit more rough-and-tumble than Exeter though, with streaks of grey in his beard and wrinkles on his forehead that make him seem like he's seen a lot in his years up in Scotland.

He's wearing a bulky leather jacket and a patterned scarf, offering up what is actually the most interesting outfit we've had so far. I don't think he'd be that impressed to hear that, though.

Leeds

Leeds has seen some sh*t.
Midjourney

Just when we thought the average Glaswegian man had been through a lot, here comes Leeds. Are you guys okay over there? Also, what's the average age of people in Leeds?

Mr. Leeds looks like he's just been caught in a thunderstorm, and could really do with a comb. Luckily, though, he's just a figment of AI imagination, so no one needs to travel to Leeds with a hairbrush.

Liverpool

Liverpool will win next time, mate.
Midjourney

Did somebody say football fan? It was probably either going to be that or some sort of amalgamation of The Beatles, so Liverpool's average man really isn't that surprising.

We've potentially got a small (okay, very small) nod to John Lennon in the round glasses, but generally this guy's 'thing' seems to be football.

With Liverpool's logo branded on a New Balance hoodie, he's clearly a fan of the local team, who unfortunately look like they've just lost the game.

London

I have to admit, I don't think AI has nailed London. I'd have been expecting a clean-shaven guy in a suit, maybe with a wildly overpriced drink in hand, but maybe I'm focusing too much on the city.

Instead, this man has tousled hair and a five o'clock shadow, and the slightly pale look of someone who maybe spends a bit too much time on the tube.

He's definitely not a Pret fan, either.

Manchester

Manchester is red, apparently.
Midjourney

We've now made it to Manchester, and no, they don't look like anyone from Oasis. Instead, they're a slightly more hardened version of Liverpool, sporting a red Manchester United hoodie under a puffy jacket.

He has a short back and sides and is one of our only average men with very curly hair, but he's obviously embracing it like the proud Manc he is.

Newcastle

Newcastle seems like he needs a day off.
Midjourney

Is it going to be someone straight out of Geordie Shore? No, instead we've got a man who doesn't look very happy at all to be in Newcastle, despite how much fun the city can be.

He's one of our only men holding what looks to be a cup of coffee - maybe necessary after a night out on the town? - and is finding extra comfort in a nice knitted hat sitting on top of his head. Don't worry pet, things will get better soon.

You can find all of the other shocking, surprising and disturbing 'average men' in our video - but again, please don't shoot the messenger. Go after the robots, they're the ones that created these people.
