When a paramotor pilot flew over the Great Pyramid of Giza he made sure to glide close enough to the top to get a good look at what was up there.
A paramotor is essentially a paraglider with a big fan on it that allows a person to keep flying rather than falling with style, and Yanis Terzis decided to take his right over the top of one of Egypt's most famous landmarks.
In the end he got so close to the top that he could touch it as he flew by, and people watching his aerial footage of the pyramid got to see something interesting up there.

He said: "Most of the paramotor pilots fly high for safety precautions.
"Sometimes I like to get a little bit risky on my flights and go close to the ground and over the building to get amazing shots and videos.
“This was what happened with the Pyramids and temple flight, amazing footage that has been shared on YouTube with more than seven million views.

“We all had the permissions to fly over the pyramids and temples during the event, so no laws were broken.
“My intention was to get some of the most amazing footage from a different angle over the pyramids and temples.
“On the pyramid flight, I had the intention of touch my foot tip over the pyramids. That was something unique that I’m going to remember for the rest of my life.
“I think many people didn't know what the pyramids are like on the top, and many people comment about the scriptures and graffiti up there.

"Also, the incredible view in 4k give another perspective, and you can see all the details from the monuments.”
Speaking of which, 'all the details' included symbols carved into the stones atop the Great Pyramid of Giza which looked like they might have been hieroglyphs from the few seconds of footage that Terzis got as he flew by.
Ancient Egyptians loved carving symbols into things and they built the pyramids so you'd be forgiven for thinking they did the carving.

However, at the time the pyramid was built it would have had a smooth limestone casing and would have had a triangular tip on top known as a pyramidion.
Both features are long since gone, and now what's left looks to be evidence of vandalism throughout the ages.
It seems as though people from all parts of the world are possessed of a desire to carve their names into things, and since the Great Pyramid of Giza was built plenty of people have decided to climb it - though this is now illegal.
