People 'can't understand' simulation that shows what people would see if they had no eyes

Our eyes are supposedly the 'window to our soul' as well as being our trusty organs of sight.

But have you ever wondered what the world would look like to us if our peepers were plucked out of our heads?

Well, wonder no more - as YouTuber Zack D. Film has shared a stomach-churning simulation to show us exactly what it looks like.

Spoiler alert, there's not a lot to see.

But the content creator still tried to give his 18.2 million subscribers a bit of an idea of what life without eyes would be like.

To do so, he mocked up another one of his infamous simulations to help people imagine it.

Bear in mind, this video is merely to help people visualise this experience - as if you really had no eyes, you wouldn't be blinking like Zack's model does in the clip.

In a short video shared on YouTube, Zack explained: "If your eyeballs fully popped out of your head, you would completely lose your vision.

"So, what would you actually see?

"Most people think that you would see darkness, like pitch black. But that's not actually true."

Now this next bit might be hard to comprehend, but stick with us for a second.

"You wouldn't see darkness, because you wouldn't see anything at all," Zack continued.

"It would be like trying to see out of your elbow - there is no visual input, which means you quite literally see nothing.

"Not darkness, not pitch black... nothing."

Now I don't know about you, but I think trying to imagine 'nothing' is a pretty difficult feat.

So did a host of social media users, who flooded the comment section of Zack's video to discuss the simulation further.

One wrote: "My brain hurts trying to imagine what that’s like."

A second added: "The idea of 'seeing nothing' is impossible for me to comprehend and is honestly terrifying."

While a third chimed in: "We can't comprehend seeing nothing because most of us have always been able to see."

Another commenter then tried to break it down a bit further for people who were struggling to understand.

"Think of your eyes as cameras," they said.

"When you're blind, that camera is damaged/broken, and can't properly send footage to the 'computer'.

"But in other cases, the 'cables', might not be properly attached, recording, but not sending footage.

"Think as a lack of Input (lack of vision), rather than a different Output (seeing everything 'pitch black')."

Does anyone feel a bit clearer on the subject after that?

No, me either.
