Ricky Gervais has recently broken his two-season rule with After Life, which has just premiered its third season on Netflix. But now fans of the show are desperate to know whether they can binge-watch the series and still expect more to come.
Will there be an After Life season 4?
In short, no, there won’t be a fourth season for After Life.
Despite the third season of the comedy-drama undoubtedly set to become a hit like the previous two seasons, the comedian wants to call it quits after the next series.
The show’s writer, director and lead character, Gervais, told Lorraine Kelly in a recent interview that the third series will “be the final installment.”
“It’s the first time I’ve done a third series of anything but it felt right, and I fell in love with the characters. I think this should be it,” he told the media personality on her interview show.
However, Gervais told Deadline in a different interview that a fourth season would be a "no brainer" and says that "every time someone asks [about a fourth season] I get a little adrenaline rush wishing it wasn’t it".
The actor said that he "everything points towards [a fourth season being a good idea] except would series four be as good as the first three and actually better because it’s no good for it to be just as good".
Netflix's synopsis for season three reads: "It's the final season of After Life and Tony is still desperately mourning the loss of his wife, Lisa.
"Will he ever truly embrace the future if he can't let go of the past?"
Season three of After Life is out now on Netflix.
