A horror movie version of Bambi is in the works with some help from the director of Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey.
For those unfamiliar with that movie, the beloved children's character has gone feral and is off on a rampage after being abandoned by Christopher Robin.
It all became possible after the honey-loving bear entered the public domain at the beginning of 2022, making him fair game for anyone who wanted to use him in their production.

While you can't use the Disney-specific version as the red shirt is still trademarked by them, anyone can now make works of entertainment starring Winnie the Pooh, even if that means sticking him in a slasher movie as the villain.
It's not exactly what A.A. Milne had in mind when he created the friendly teddy bear, but Winnie the Pooh belongs to all of us now and we can do whatever we like with him.
It seems like we've only just gotten started in this burgeoning genre of children's classics reimagined as grotesquely creepy horror movie protagonists, because Bambi's getting his own version now.

Titled Bambi: The Reckoning, the new film is in the early stages of development and there's plenty of mystery about what it'll turn out like, but with a title like that they've got to be going for something insane.
Bambi entered the public domain at the same time as Winnie the Pooh, so they're both right there for any aspiring filmmakers who want to take their characters and make a movie as crazy as they like.
The movie is set to be directed by Scott Jeffrey, who was a producer for Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, while he'll also be getting a helping hand from that movie's director Rhys Frake-Waterfield.

According to Dread Central, Bambi: The Reckoning director Jeffrey is promising to draw inspiration from one of the scariest movies you can find on Netflix.
He said: "The film will be an incredibly dark retelling of the 1928 story we all know and love.
"Finding inspiration from the design used in Netflix's The Ritual, Bambi will be a vicious killing machine that lurks in the wilderness. Prepare for Bambi on rabies!"
The beast in The Ritual was a massive monster, so if this new 'Bambi on rabies' is anything like that he's probably going to be absolutely terrifying.

Frankly, Bambi reimagined as a 'vicious killing machine' is the cinematic twist we all need, after the adorable little deer becomes a rabid monster who knows what beloved children's character will be next in line?
