A lot of clubs we might want to be part of and groups of stars we may wish we were a part of. But the ’27 Club’ isn’t exactly one we’re dying to get into.
This ‘club’ consists of a selection of some major musicians who share a key thing in common: the age of which they died.
Members of the 27 Club all lost their lives three years before their 30th birthday amid their rock-and-roll lifestyles.

While we’ll never get back the likes of Jimi Hendrix or Amy Winehouse, we can use technology to see what they’d look like now, had they made it past the age of 27.
Here’s what AI reckons the 27 Club would look like today:
Jimi Hendrix
Advert
One of the most legendary guitarists of all time, Hendrix died just over two months before his 28th birthday in September 1970.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame regards the American as ‘arguably the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music’. An autopsy concluded that he ‘aspirated his own vomit and died of asphyxia while intoxicated with barbiturates’.
AI reckons if Hendrix was alive today, the 81-year-old would have black-grey locks, a retro sense of style and a fair few wrinkles.
Kurt Cobain

Nirvana frontman Cobain died at the age of 27 in April 1994.
Found dead in his garage with a 20-guage shotgun laying across his chest, the musician’s death was ruled as suicide.
But if he was alive today, AI reckons the would-be 51-year-old would have maintained his long blonde hair and strikingly chiselled jawline and cheekbones.
Amy Winehouse

The British singer was known for her impressive vocals with songs that a still iconic today – from the likes of your mum’s favourite karaoke song ‘Valerie’ to ‘Back to Black’.
At the age of 27, Winehouse died of alcohol poisoning in July 2011.
And according to AI, if she was still alive today she’d be pretty recognisable with her staple big hair.
Jim Morrison
Advert
Lead singer of the Doors, Morrison died at the age of 27 in July 1971.
The rock icon was found dead in his bathtub after suffering a heart attack.
If he was alive today, AI reckons he’d be quite the silver fox with curly grey hair, a trimmed beard and shades to keep up the rocker style.
Janis Joplin
Less than a month after Hendrix, singer-songwriter Joplin died of an accidental heroin overdose.
One of the first members of the tragic ’27 Club’, the American was one of the most successful rock stars of her time.
If she were alive today, AI reckons she’d still have her flowing locks, would be partial to some beaded-jewellery and would even sport a big face tattoo.
Brian Jones
The original leader of the Rolling Stones, Jones had a long history of substance abuse.
He died aged 27 after drowning in the pool at his home in July 1969 – not long after being dismissed from the band.
According to AI’s prediction, if he were still alive today he’d look not too dissimilar to his old bandmates with a head full of white-blonde hair, his fair share of wrinkles and still with a guitar in hand.
