Anne Hathaway has revealed the thing that made her stop drinking, as she celebrates her sobriety.
The actress has hit five years without a drink, describing the moment as a 'milestone' and saying that surpassing the age of 40 has been 'a gift'.
Hathaway seems to be over the moon with her accomplishment, despite people still getting her name wrong, in her eyes.

Known for her role as Mia Thermopolis in the The Princess Diaries, among other roles, she hinted at a third film in the series during the interview with the New York Times.
It was during this interview when the 41-year-old provided fans with an update on her sobriety.
This all traces back to an admission she made on the Ellen DeGeneres show in January 2019, where Hathaway spoke about how growing her family made her want to get sober.
At the time, she had just one son, Jonathan, who was just two-years-old, but the actress has since given birth to another boy, Jack, who is now four-years-old.

Five years ago, the actress said on the talk show: "I’m gonna stop drinking while my son’s living in my house,
"I don’t totally love the way I [drink] and he’s getting to an age where he really does need me all the time in the mornings," she explained.
But there was one incident that made her take alcohol out for the foreseeable future.

"I did one school run one day where I dropped him off at school.
"I wasn’t driving, but I was hungover and that was enough for me, I didn’t love that one," she revealed.
The importance of the decision was amplified as Jack was born in November that year, making her sobriety even more worthwhile.
While speaking to the New York Times during the interview/profile update, Hathaway sounded mixed about revealing the good news.

"There are so many other things I identify as milestones," she began.
"I don’t normally talk about it, but I am over five years sober," adopting a more positive tone.
"That feels like a milestone to me. Forty feels like a gift."

The Interstellar star said she didn't want to admit that she was in her 'middle age', due to how unpredictable life can be.
"The fact of the matter is I hesitate at calling things 'middle age' simply because I can be a semantic stickler and I could get hit by a car later today,'
"We don’t know if this is middle age - we don't know anything," she stated.
Hathaway has been married to businessman Adam Shulman since 2012, and though him and her boys have given her reason to go alcohol-free, the couple usually keep things about their family private.
