People are having a hard time believing the ‘bizarre’ way Isla Fisher announced her divorce to Sacha Baron Cohen on Instagram.
The couple released a joint statement earlier this evening (5 April), revealing they jointly filed for a divorce in 2023. Fisher and Baron Cohen have been married for over 13 years and together for more than 20.
Meeting in 2001, getting engaged in 2004, marrying in 2010 and sharing three children, they have been together since before they were both totally launched into the spotlight.

Fisher posted a photo to her Instagram story this evening announcing their separation. And users have been left fairly baffled by her method.
The statement reads: “After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our racquets down. In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage.
“We have always prioritized our privacy, and have been quietly working through this change. We forever share in our devotion and love for our children. We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy."

Almost seeming typical from the pair of comedy film and TV stars, it was a little light-hearted with the text being placed over a snap of the pair posing in matching tennis outfits.
But users on Instagram reposted the photo, joking: “I kind of want to get married just to announce my divorce like this.”
Another even wrote: “That’s actually kinda cool?”
One joked: “Game, set, unmatch,” while others said: “This is wild.”

Although one put: “It’s not that wild. They’re just making light of a difficult situation.”
While another awkwardly pointed out: “Funny they use the word ‘love’ which in the context of tennis literally means ‘nothing’.”
But others said they ‘rate’ the way the pair announced the divorce and put: “They’re comedians. It’s not that wild lol.”

One put: “LOVE IT!” As another echoed: “This is a slay for divorce announcement.”
While Fisher did write that they both filed for divorce in 2023, this news of their separation comes following the release of Rebel Wilson’s new memoir, where she alleges Baron Cohen had repeatedly asked her to do nude scenes and ‘stick [her] finger up [his] a**’ amongst other claims.
He has strongly denied these allegations.
A spokesperson for the star told The Hollywood Reporter: "While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of The Brothers Grimsby."
