Emma Stone had a charming reaction when a reporter called the movie star by her actual name.
There are plenty of people in the glitzy and glamourous world of Hollywood who don't actually use their real names, and Stone is one of them.
Her movie credits are for a name that isn't actually hers, her awards are all for someone with a different name and pretty much the entire world knows her by a name that isn't her actual one.

That's because when registering for the Screen Actor's Guild, you can't have the same name as another performer that's already registered.
Sadly for Stone, there was someone else with her name already signed up after having been a contestant on Australia's Next Top Model, so she had to pick Emma.
Stone's actually name is Emily Stone, so it's not a massive change but there is a world of difference between a name that's yours and one that isn't.

She's said before that she'd like to be called Emily, but almost all of her credited work is under the name of Emma.
A 2006 appearance on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody did have her down as Emily Stone in the credits, but beyond that, it's Emmas everywhere else.
In a recent interview, she said she'd 'like to be Emily', saying that people who get to know her better come to call her by her actual first name: "When I get to know them, people that I work with do.
"It’s just because my name was taken. Then I freaked out a couple of years ago.

"For some reason, I was like, 'I can’t do it anymore. Just call me Emily. I would like to be Emily."
She definitely wasn't joking about that, as at a recent appearance at the Cannes Film Festival her reaction when a reporter called her Emily was priceless.
Stone was at a press conference for the film Kinds of Kindness, another of her collaborations with The Favourite and Poor Things director Yorgos Lanthimos, when she was called Emily.

Her response was to turn to Lanthimos and exclaim: "That's my name!"
So there you go, if you ever end up meeting Emily Stone then she might like it if you call her by her actual name.
