While the music world has been in mourning since the passing of legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne, few tributes were as heartfelt and powerful as that of Yungblud.

It seems strange that the 27-year-old singer-songwriter and the 76-year-old were such close friends, but the power of their music brought them together, and it was clear that he idolised the Black Sabbath front man.

Osbourne was long-regarded as the Prince of Darkness and the man who helped to inspire the birth of heavy metal music, so it is no surprise that thousands turned up to pay tribute to the icon at his funeral in Birmingham earlier this week.

After Osbourne's death, which came after a long battle with Parkinson's disease, Yungblud, whose real name is Dominic Harrison, shared an emotional tribute to the star on his social media page.

He wrote: “I didn't think you would leave so soon the last time we met you were so full of life and your laugh filled up the room.

"But as it is written with legends, they seem to know things that we don't. I will never forget you - you will be in every single note I sing and with me every single time I walk on stage. Your cross around my neck is the most precious thing I own.

"You asked me once if there was anything you could do for me and as I said then and as I will say now for all of us the music was enough. You took us on your adventure - an adventure that started it all.

"I am truly heartbroken. You were the greatest of all time.”

Yungblud first became close with the Osbourne family after Ozzy appeared in his 2022 music video for his song 'The Funeral'.

After that exchange, Ozzy gifted the singer a cross necklace, something he seemingly still wears around his neck going off his previous tribute.

Following his recent funeral, Yungblud shared another post on Instagram with a picture of the cross, writing: "Goodnight oz. your light will forever shine. I love you."

Fans noted in the comments that Ozzy has 'passed the torch of darkness on' to Yungblud.

Yungblud's final gift to Ozzy Osbourne

Yungblud was able to return the favour just a short while before Ozzy's passing, as he appeared backstage at the rocker's final concert alongside his Black Sabbath bandmates in Birmingham and handed over a custom-made cross necklace.

You can watch the touching moment below (the video contains some strong language):

The musician presented his gift ahead of his final performance with Black Sabbath at Villa Park, saying: "Obviously, you gave me a cross, and I wanted to return the favour, so I made you something.

"Thank you, man, for everything. It's an honour, man."
