Paddy McGuinness makes brutal comment about life after divorce from ex-wife Christine

The comedian is currently on tour with his Nearly There shows

Paddy McGuinness has made a brutal joke about the state of his finances after his divorce from wife Christine.

Comedian and Take Me Out star Paddy had been married to wife Christine, 36, for over a decade before announcing their divorce in 2022. The couple broke the news with a joint statement on social media and asked for privacy for the sake of their children.

However, this doesn't mean the couple haven't spoken publicly about the end of their relationship in the years since, with the former Top Gear presenter recently making a brutal comment about life after splitting from Christine.

More specifically, how it's impacting his finances.

During a recent appearance on The 2 Johnnies podcast, which is hosted by Irish comedians Johnny 'Smacks' McMahon and 'Johnny B' O'Brien, the 51-year-old was asked about his decision to head back into the world of stand-up, with the presenter seeing an open goal to make a dig about his marital status.

"I still get that feeling just before I go, going 'f***, why are we doing this?' And then I remember I am divorced...Oh yeah, that’s why! I have no money," he joked, seemingly suggesting that he's had to fork out big time over the separation.

Alleged financial woes aside, McGuinness went on to add that the stand-up shows were proving popular with fans. "But honestly it has been doing really really well," he said.

"It is a different style of show but I have just started the second leg and it has been going down an absolute storm."

This isn't the first time where Paddy has mined his recent divorce for content, with the comedian lasting just one minute before joking about his split at a show last October.

During the first leg of his Nearly There tour, Paddy took to the stage in Blackburn and told the crowd (via The Sun): "Tonight, folks, we’re all here as human beings with one common goal - and that’s to help me pay for my divorce. I’ve had the pants down, me, the pants down.

"I’m thinking of getting Children In Need to do a bike ride for me next year, or come round to a bedsit in Bolton filming me," he added.

Christine is yet to comment publicly on Paddy's decision to use their divorce in his standup routines. However, The Mirror previously reported she'd been left 'devastated' by the comments made during the early days of his tour.

LADbible has approached a representative of Christine McGuinness for comment.
