Heartbreaking reason Pamela Anderson stopped wearing makeup as she makes BAFTA appearance

She doesn't wear it as much as she used to

Pamela Anderson was one of the many famous faces who made an appearance at the BAFTAs last night (16 February). Though she wasn't one of the celebrities called upon to join David Tennant for a spot of singing in the opening number, she was already in the UK, having made an appearance on Graham Norton's sofa last week where she got on well with the actor Stephen Graham.

Anderson showed up to the BAFTAs in a long white gown and without fancy makeup, with the former Baywatch star having previously explained why she no longer wears it like she used to.

She'd previously explained during an interview with Elle that since her makeup artist Alexis Vogel died from breast cancer in 2019 she no longer felt like putting it on.

"She was the best," Anderson said of Vogel. "And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup," she continued, saying that the decision to go without it felt 'freeing, and fun, and a little rebellious'.

That's not to say she never wears any makeup, with her telling PEOPLE there was a 'time and a place' for it, but 'in my personal life, it just didn't really make sense'.

Anderson doesn't spend much time in Hollywood these days, having said that she is 'not that person anymore'.

"What is this cartoon character that I’d created? OK, that was fun. But I’m not that person anymore," she told Better Homes and Garden magazine.

The actor explained that she had been willing to 'play into' the manufactured image of her that became famous but is relieved that she got through it.

She said: "I’m glad I did all that, but I’m really glad I’m where I am now. I think the most important part is, I made it through all of it.

"And now it’s such a relief that I get to be myself and enjoy this time."

She's have a life of ups, downs and several marriages including one which pretty much ended because of the movie Borat.

You might remember she made a cameo appearance in the Sacha Baron Cohen movie where he attempts to kidnap her for a 'cultural marriage'.

Anderson didn't tell her then husband Kid Rock, real name Robert James Ritchie, she was in the movie when they went for a screening and he reacted poorly.

Baron Cohen remembers that he texted her asking how it went and she told him she was getting divorced, with Anderson writing in her memoir Love, Pamela that her husband 'stormed out, calling me a w***e and worse'.

They didn't stay in touch.
