Mark Labbett's girlfriend Hayley Palmer has confirmed the ‘golden rule’ the couple follow that makes their relationship work.
The 58-year-old quizzer and his TV presenter other-half went public with their relationship earlier this year, with Palmer, 42, joking that she was impressed with Labbett showed off his Toby Carvery Gold card that she was ‘trying to get her hands on’.
The loved-up pair opened up about their relationship back in June, telling the Daily Mail: “We are taking things really slowly.

“But this is the first time we've been able to do more than the odd date so it's been fantastic. We are getting on well and are happy.
“We've discovered we get on well together and have been able to walk hand-in-hand and feel relaxed in LA.”
And it seems the pair have gone from strength to strength, with The Chase star recently revealing he can’t believe his luck at landing his stunning partner.
In an interview with The Sun, he shared: “I mean, look at her.

“I keep finding myself going, ‘Hang on, we’re actually going out?’
“I don’t want to make her blush, but 15 years ago I was a maths teacher, I was 29st.
“I’m a very, very lucky man. I’ve got the job I was born to do and, in Hayley, someone to share it all with.”

And when it comes to making sure their relationship remains rock-solid, Labbett made a tongue-in-cheek quip about their ‘golden rule’.
“The most important rule of all is we get on really well,” he shared.
“But our golden rule is we don’t share chips. There might be the odd occasion with a sharing platter, but we’ve had the argument. I’m a big believer in truffle and Parmesan fries whereas Hayley’s a chunky chips girl.”

Confirming that was the case, Palmer shared a shot of the interview on her Instagram, writing: "YES IT'S TRUE! Agreed early on - We do NOT share chips. (Are we all in agreement this is a golden rule?!!!)."
Labbett was previously married to Katie, who was also his second-cousin - something he says they weren't aware of until after they got hitched in 2014.
The pair went their separate ways in 2020, but continue to co-parent their son, Lawrence, together.
Labbett said the 27-year age gap between them, Covid-19 lockdowns and an open marriage eventually took its toll on the relationship leading to their breakup.
