Christopher Maloney has sparked concern after he showed off the results of his eyelid surgery on Instagram.

The former X Factor contestant, 45, rose to fame on the show back in 2012. On Wednesday (28 June) the musician shared a series of post-op snaps on Instagram.

It appears Maloney isn’t happy with the results. He captioned the post: “Think I’ve gone too far!”

He added: “Need a hug.”

He included the hashtags #bodydysmorphia and #mentalhealthawareness in the post’s caption.

Body dysmorphia is a disorder which causes people to find flaws in their appearance that are often not noticeable to others.

In another post, Maloney wrote: “Enough said! xx #depressionhelp #cosmeticsurgery'.

Concerned fans took to the comments to share supportive messages. One follower wrote: “Chris! Please please stop doing this to yourself. You are thoroughly beautiful inside and out. You really don't need to do this to yourself.”

One of Maloney’s friends commented: “Chris as your friend of 10 years I’m asking you to please stop you’re beautiful you don’t need anymore xx

Another follower said: “Aww Chris sending you the hugest hug, please no more, you are beautiful inside & out, vital hugs & kisses.”

While another comment, which was ‘liked’ by Maloney, said: “I'm sending you hugs, please, please stop doing this. You really are a handsome fella with a good heart. Please no more.”

EastEnders star John Partridge shared: “Chris I hope you are ok? You've got my number... use it!”

And another follower wrote: “Chris! Please please stop doing this to yourself. You are thoroughly beautiful inside and out. You really don't need to do this to yourself."

Maloney has had cosmetic procedures in the past and has shared the results with fans on social media.

In 2017, he flew to Poland with former EastEnders star Danniella Westbrook for a rhinoplasty, eye lift and a hair transplant. He was taken to hospital after his procedures because of a blood clot in his leg.

Christopher Maloney auditioned for The X Factor in 2012 and was subjected to trolling.

"We can confirm that Chris was rushed to hospital yesterday with suspected DVT (deep vein thrombosis)," his representative confirmed in a statement at the time.

"He has received treatment and is undergoing further treatment for this condition."

He previously claimed to have spent ÂŁ60,000 on cosmetic surgery over the years, including three hair transplants, two nose jobs, an eyelid lift and veneers.

Maloney discussed his cosmetic changes during an interview on This Morning in 2015, explaining that he decided to go under the knife because of trolling on social media.

"X Factor was great, but as the series was going on, I was getting really bad trolls," he said. "I was called Mr Potato Head, that I was ugly, that I had a big nose, and it just affected me so much, and at the end of the final, I did have a breakdown."

He continued: "I feel so much better now. It has made me more confident and now I'm looking forward to the future."
