Stranger Things fans have been heaping praise on stars Caleb McLaughlin and Gaten Matarazzo after watching the season four finale.
The second batch of episodes dropped yesterday and fans have already blasted their way through them keen to find out what went down in Hawkins.

As promised, the fourth season got very dark and fan-favourite Eddie (played by Joseph Quinn) died a hero’s death - staying in the Upside Down to distract the Demobats while Nancy (Natalia Dyer), Steve (Joe Keery) and Robin (Maya Hawkins) took on Venca.
Throughout season four, viewers have loved the ongoing friendship between Dustin (Matarazzo) and Eddie, so it was quite fitting that rocker Eddie spent his final moments in Dustin’s arms where he had the chance to tell him he loved him before he passed away.
Meanwhile, the rollercoaster of emotions didn’t stop there after Max (Sadie Sink) also died on screen - moments after she told Lucas she didn’t want to die in gut-wrenching scenes.

Fortunately, it was a slightly better outcome for Max than poor Eddie, as Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) was able to save the teen, who ended up in a hospital bed in a coma with Lucas and Erica (Priah Ferguson) at her side.
At home fans were blown away by Caleb’s and Gaten’s acting, with one writing: “When the Duffer brothers said Caleb McLaughlin will deliver one of the most moving, gut-wrenching performances in the history of the show, they're not actually lying. CALEB REALLY DELIVERED.”
Another said: “Someone give Gaten Matarazzo an award for his phenomenal acting in this scene.”

While a third posted: Guys just a second to appreciate Gaten Matarazzo and his legit amazing performance in Stranger Things 4. He was so f**king funny but the scenes with Eddie and Wayne Munson showed how truly phenomenal Gaten’s acting is.”
Someone else wrote: “Gaten & Caleb’s acting was so good this season, like I’m so happy that Lucas & Dustin got more emotional scenes this season because they’ve been through so much.”
And another fan added: “I need Gaten or Caleb to get an Emmy for their performances this season. Yeah, everyone gave good performances but theirs left me speechless.”
If you can handle it, Volume 2 of Stranger Things season four is streaming on Netflix right now.
