People are scarpering to social media in a mixture of awe and fear after watching a psychological horror starring John Cusack.
I may be someone who can barely make it through Coraline without my fingers firmly planted in front of my eyes, but I'm warning you - you may want to have your back firmly planted against the wall and have checked under the sofa before you watch this:
Released in 2007 and directed by Mikael Håfström, the film is an American psychological thriller based on the short story of the same name written by Stephen King.

The film sees Cusack star as Michael 'Mike' Enslin, an author who writes about supernatural events but doesn't believe they actually occur.
Enslin receives a note warning him not to go into a hotel room - and yes, you guessed it, the hotel room with the number 1408 - but, not a believer in the paranormal, he goes anyway.
And let's just say I'll have to stop there or I won't get any sleep tonight, and you'll just have to watch it yourself - if you dare - to find out what happens to him.

And if you've made it through the trailer and are still wanting to watch it? Well, the film is called 1408.
However, if you needed a bit more convincing it's scary enough for you, 1408 achieved an impressive tomatometer score of 80 percent and solid audience score of 61 percent, and some people discovering it for the first time have flocked to Reddit in praise of the movie, one user calling it the 'perfect horror'.
The user commented: "In my opinion. John Cusack did a phenomenal job. It was a perfect horror movie. His character was relatable because he sought out horror but was skeptical just like us. We know things don’t actually go bump in the night, but a small part of us want to be proven wrong.
"It took place in universally relatable setting. A hotel room. It’s alien because it’s not our home, but it’s relatable in that we’ve all been in one. I never found horror movies with aliens scary because I can’t really conceptualize ever being in the predicament. That’s where 1408 nails it.

"[...] But the absolute BEST thing it did and the story one theme no other horror trope can ever beat is no longer being able to trust your own mind. There is nothing scarier. "
Another Redditer added: "Definitely one of my favorite horror movies."
"One of the best Stephen king adaptations that gets too little recognition. Captured what's good about King's stories while adding to it in a great way. In the short story, the phone scene and the interview are easily the best parts. In the movie there's so much more," a third chimed.

And a fourth resolved: "Room 1408 was a MASTERPIECE and true horror."
