He continued: "I think maybe this film feels from a different era because we are far more guarded with each other now.

"Paranoid. Removed. Isolated. Divided. There’s far less intimacy because of this stuff... We’re much less intimate with reality."

Explaining why he thinks We Live In Time's intimate moments will be a hit with viewers, he added: "I think there’s either an unconscious or even conscious longing in the audience for these images. To see that level of intimacy and connection being lived out on screen, I think, will be a lovely reminder and inspiration for people."

The actor also spoke about the film's use of an intimacy co-ordinator during his talk with Horowitz, explaining how they were more of a 'choreographer' than anything else.

"We had a great intimacy co-ordinator there," he explained. "We choreographed a bunch of beautiful sex scenes."

Garfield then went on to add that he felt a 'responsibility' as a man on set to make sure his co-star was comfortable with all of the intimate scenes they were filming.

"The responsibility is so heightened," he said. "I will probably ask if she is okay an annoying amount [of times]."
