Fans online are discovering an intense film that takes place over one shot from the creator of Adolescence after a scene went viral, with one fan calling it ‘the most incredible 30 seconds of cinema ever’.
Adolescence has been, by far, the biggest Netflix hit of the year, flying to second in all-time viewership behind only Wednesday season one and the first two seasons of Squid Game.
The show, which features four episodes of TV in which everything takes place in a single shot, was widely beloved and won numerous Emmy awards.
Created by executive producer Phillip Barantini alongside lead Stephen Graham and writer Jack Thorne, this was not the first collaboration.
Adolescence also starred Stephen Graham with Phillip Barantini heavily involved (Netflix) Boiling Point, starring Graham and created by director-writer Barantini, was the original collaboration between the pair to play with the idea of having an entire story told without a single camera cut.
Where Boiling Point is perhaps even more impressive, however, is that it is a film with the entire 92-minute runtime going without a single cut.
Graham stars as Andy Jones, the charismatic head chef of a successful London restaurant dealing with the busiest night of the year.
The film has a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score of 99 per cent, with Kevin Maher of The Times calling it an ‘utterly convincing and immersive experience’.
Whilst it received rave reviews and even a follow-up BBC TV show, Boiling Point did not get anywhere near the widespread reaction that Adolescence did. This is likely due to the marketing of Netflix and the political relevance that the series explored in relation to knife violence and misogyny in young boys.
Boiling Point, however, does touch on some serious issues, something displayed in the short clip from the film which has gone viral on Instagram.
Spoilers ahead for Boiling Point.
A scene from Boiling Point has gone viral on Instagram (Vertigo Films) The film is incredibly tense, contrasting the issues the restaurant is facing with the various private issues the staff are going through.
The most shocking example of this is when young pastry Chef Jamie is discovered to be self-harming by Emily, his mentor and head pastry Chef.
Emily’s caring response to comfort Jamie after discovering it was posted to Instagram, and is sitting at just under 400,000 likes at the time of writing.

Meanwhile, another comment said: “And there wasn’t a single cut in this scene. Wonderful actors and wonderful story.”
A third said: “This actress floored me here - wow stunning performance.”
This story is continued in the follow-up TV series of the same name, with Jamie successfully getting his first dessert on the menu.
Sadly the pressure of the kitchen leads Jamie to self harm again, though he survives his suicide attempt.
