Disney have announced the release date for the Freaky Friday sequel.

Both Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis will be reprising their roles from the 2003 classic.

Joining them in coming back from the first film will be Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Stephen Tobolowsky, Lucille Soong and Rosalind Chao.

The sequel will be directed by Nisha Gantra, who also directed the Mindy Kaling and Emma Thompson film Late Night.

The announcement is a welcome one for fans, as it takes another step towards the film feeling even more real.

One fan commented: "The reboot we deserve!"

Another said: "IM SO EXCITEDDDDDDCHCJJSUSHSH!!!!!!".

A third commented: "I am clearing all week for this event!!!!"

In an Instagram post, the caption read: "TGIF. #FreakierFriday arrives in theaters August 8, 2025!"

Lindsay Lohan has previously said on Good Morning America of the sequel:

"It's going to be a really freaky Friday. Much freakier than you would expect."

When asked about the cast returning, she said: "It's fantastic. We all just have so much fun and it's so great to have that on set.

"You just always really want to have a good time. So it's a lot of love, a lot of fun, a lot of laughs and it's a great experience right now."
