A horror that was hailed by Stephen King as having an 'amazing' ending has just broken a record on the streaming platform.
The 2024 Netflix film came out just two weeks ago (5 June), hitting our screens with aplomb, debuting with a flawless score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, and praise from several viewers on social media.
One of these viewers was none other than horror legend Stephen King, with the American author giving the French film his seal of approval and when he speaks, people tend to listen.

Best known for best-selling novels such as It, The Shining and The Green Mile, not only did they bring him success in the book world, but all three have been adapted for screen as hit Hollywood films.
King still finds time to write and release novels here and there, while also finding time to watch some TV series and films that take his fancy, by the looks of it.
The 76-year-old tends to share the best of these on his X account to his 7.1 million followers, he has called this film 'quite good', and specifically praised its climax.

King posted: “I thought Under Paris would be a jokey movie, like Sharknado, but Twitter convinced me to give it a watch, and it’s really quite good. The last 25 minutes were amazing.”

Though it may come across as a ridiculous take on Sharknado or something similar, the Paris-based film is now one of Netflix's most-watched films following its release in early June.

It is currently the platform's fifth most popular non-English language film ever, currently boasting over 120 million hours in viewership, with a total of 69.6 million views overall.
The film currently sits behind 2022 Norwegian monster film Troll, and three Spanish films - Society of the Snow, Nowhere and The Platform.
Under Paris is directed by Xavier Gens, and follows a scientist (Bérénice Bejo) who teams up with a police commander to get rid of a 'dangerous beast' currently in The Seine and return it to the Ocean before it ruins the city, which is 'headed for disaster'.
It does play on some of the clichés in the shark-horror genre, such as the time the shark makes its way into The Seine coinciding with a weekend swimming event, leaving several legs exposed for the beast to chomp down on.

This climax is what King references, and has scenes and sequences that need to be seen to be believed by horror fans - and it's so good that one viewer called it 'fantastic' and 'one of the best endings I've seen in a while'.
Following its early success, there are already rumours over a potential sequel in the works, which Gens has spoke on earlier this month.
Speaking to Variety, he revealed: "Right now, as of today, we're not on it but there's a chance that we'll be discussing it soon,

"If there is a sequel, it will take place in a Paris that is entirely submerged under water," the director said.
It looks like King may know a thing or two about horror. Good to know.
