Jack Black may be well loved for his roles in School of Rock and The Holiday, but there is one film he wishes that he could scrub from his filmography.
The actor and singer has enjoyed a long and illustrious career as one of Hollywood's leading funny men, appearing in everything from Kung-Fu Panda to Jumanji and The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
He is also equally recognisable for his work as a singer of comedy-rock band Tenacious D, where he has worked alongside Dave Grohl and earned a Grammy Award for 'Best Metal Performance'.

However not every move in his career has been a hit, with one film in particular being one which he feels a 'sell-out' for.
Watch the trailer for the film below:
Released back in 2001, Shallow Hal was a rom-com starring Black alongside Gwyneth Paltrow and Jason Alexander.

Black starred as Hal Larson, a shallow man who was only only wants a girlfriend he deems conventionally attractive, despite being rejected multiple times by women.
However his life is changed forever after he is hypnotised into only seeing the inner-beauty of women, with his perception being different from reality.
However the catch is that all the women whom Hal now finds attractive are actually seen as 'monstrous' and 'ugly' by those around him.

What did these women do to deserve to become the butt of the film's jokes? Nothing, other than be overweight.
Unsurprisingly Shallow Hal isn't the sort of film which would fly nowadays, with many critics rightly pointing out its blatant fatphobia.
Paltrow has also received backlash in the years following the movie, particularly for wearing a fatsuit in order to portray Hal's love interest Rosemary 'Rosie' Shanahan - who is even referred to as a 'rhino' at one point in the trailer.

Although the film ends with Hal overcoming his shallow beliefs around beauty, reminding the viewer that there's more to a person than physical looks, Shallow Hal unsurprisingly hasn't aged well at all.
Black is also clearly aware of this fact, later revealing that he felt like a 'sell-out' for starring in the flick.
"I had an opportunity to work with some dudes I thought were really funny, but it didn’t turn out as I’d hoped," he said of Shallow Hal in 2006, seemingly referring to writer-director duo Peter and Bobby Farrelly, who are the brains behind Dumb and Dumber.
"I wasn't proud of it, and I got paid a lot of money, so, in retrospect, it feels like a sell-out."

Black isn't the only person who's voiced his regrets over appearing in Shallow Hal either, with Paltrow later branding the film 'sh**e' and a 'disaster'.
