Fans has reacted to the news that WWE wrestler John Cena will be appearing in the new Barbie movie.
The highly-anticipated ‘Barbenheimer’ weekend is almost upon us - AKA the release of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.
The Mattel film starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling hits cinemas on July 21 — the same day as the historical flick featuring Cillian Murphy and Florence Pugh.
However, Warner Bros. may have the upper hand as they have announced that John Cena will be playing a Merman named ‘Kenmaid’.

A picture has been posted to the Twitter account DiscussingFilm, which shows the topless 46-year-old wearing a long blonde wig and a shell necklace.
While we can’t see the Fast X star’s lower half, we can bet he’s sporting a mermaid tail.
Regarding the Barbie film, Cena himself said: “I think it’s going to be a movie that all audiences enjoy. I think it’s going to be a movie that evokes conversation when people can get into a fiery debate about something.
"I think that’s good, I like that… versatility, I guess.”

One fan responded: “Y'all need to use that picture for every John Cena related news for the rest of time.”
A second Twitter user wrote: “I love that Cena is so reverent about the idea of allowing your opinions to shift and grow, of allowing your whole identity to change and become better instead of staying stuck in the past.

However, not everyone is impressed with the former wrestler being in the upcoming Mattel flick.

One fan wrote: “Why the f**k is John Cena in the f**king Barbie Movie?”
And another said: “In other words, it will be yet another divisive movie because that has always worked so well for Hollywood before.”
While a third commented: “Cena failed every audition for this movie. Only got a part because he asked Margot Robbie. He is acting despite not being able to act.”
Elsewhere, another Twitter user joked: “Bro thinks Barbie is Oppenheimer”.

More Twitter users are upset that the reveal has been made a week before Gerwig’s film drops in cinemas.
One said: “I really wish they would’ve saved this for the film because it would’ve been hilarious.”
A second wrote: “Cool glad I’m seeing this here instead of in the movie when I could’ve had a raw genuine reaction to seeing it.”
Barbie will drop in cinemas on Friday 21 July.
