If critics are to be believed, Longlegs is so scary and satanic that Nicolas Cage will crawl out of the screen and chase after you himself.
Whilst that may not quite be the reality, according to the director of Longlegs someone cried whilst watching the film, and he reckons he knows who is to blame – you guessed it, Nicolas Cage.
The upcoming horror thriller releases this Friday, July 12, and has seen rave critic reviews in the lead up, with 94% on Rotten Tomatoes and many calling it one of the best horror movies of the decade.
Courtney Howard posted her review on Twitter, where she said: “It’s as if Longlegs was forged in Hell by Satan, who brought it as an artifact into our world as a gift.

“Osgood Perkins’ film is the real f*cking shit. Mischievous, steadied tension build, SCARY & SICK AF.
“Maika Monroe is terrific. Nicolas Cage is in pure weirdo mode.”
Howard went on to say in the replies: “If you were wondering: Yes, I didn’t sleep well last night after seeing Longlegs and, yes, I had bad dreams.”
A review by Flick Feast said: “An insidious experience that burrows under your skin and gnaws away at your subconscious until you find yourself consumed by its darkness... The result is one of the most chilling and frightening films of recent years.”

The film follows an FBI agent, played by Maika Monroe, investigating a set of murders linked to a serial killer known as Longlegs.
As she looks closer into the mystery, everything points a satanic direction – before the film takes multiple shocking twists and turns.
In an exclusive interview with LADbible, we asked director Osgood Perkins about the extreme reactions to the film.

He said: “I guess I guess somebody cried in in Santa Monica last month.
“But I feel it was because she looked into Nicolas Cage's eyes at a certain point and she couldn't handle it. And that's what made her cry.
“So, Nick made her cry. I didn't make anybody cry. I'm not trying to make people cry. Imagine if that was my intention?

“So yeah, apparently someone wept a little bit. Which is fine.”
Whether Perkins intended it or not, multiple people have cried, and I personally spent such long periods watching the film holding my breath that I got light headed.
If you have time this weekend it’s a must watch horror classic in the making.
