If you still can't get Saltburn off the brain but are unable to convince your other half to sit through 131 minutes of craziness for the 100th time, there's another thriller which might just scratch the itch for you.
Believe it or not, there is a flick that set the bar even higher than Emerald Fennell's weird and wonderful movie in terms of the main character's obsession with wealth, social status and their male co-star.
Long before the beloved Barry Keoghan came along and stole the show as the most audacious social climber with seemingly no conscience that a lot of viewers have ever seen, Matt Damon had already done that dance - 25 years ago.

Based on Patricia Highsmith's 1955 novel of the same name, the movie follows con artist Tom Ripley (Damon) as he journeys across the world in a bid to convince 'rich and spoiled playboy' Dickie Greenleaf (Law) to return home to the US.
Much like Saltburn, the characters are brought together by a prestigious university, Princeton.
Greenleaf's shipping tycoon dad spots Ripley waltzing around in a borrowed Princeton jacket from the class of 1956 and presumes he attended the school at the same time as his son - so pays him $1,000 to go to Italy to convince his boy to come back home.

The protagonist is sent packing on a first-class ocean liner voyage and when he arrives, he manages to convince the hoity-toity socialite that he is in fact a former Princeton classmate.
Ripley quickly integrates himself into Greenleaf's circle and begins to enjoy the perks of having a rich pal - so much so, that he becomes absolutely obsessed with him. Are Oliver Quick and Felix Catton springing to mind yet?
Much like Farleigh in Saltburn, there is an observant and sceptical character, Freddie Miles (Seymour Hoffman), who isn't so sure about welcoming this mysterious new boy into their high class clique.
I'll skip over a few of the dark secrets that will spoil the plot line, but needless to say, Ripley has to get his hands dirty to cover his tracks in the hopes of continuing to ride on Greenleaf's coattails. And boy, does he.

The status seeker says he'd rather be a 'fake somebody than a real nobody' - and ends up going to extreme lengths to keep a firm grasp on his new identity.
