Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire are rumoured to be making Spider-Man 4 together

Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire are rumoured to be making Spider-Man 4 together

Thomas Haden Church said he's heard whispers in Hollywood that the pair might be reuniting for a fourth film.

It's a big day for Spider-Man fans.

There's a rumour floating around Hollywood that Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire might finally be making Spider-Man 4 together.

Thomas Haden Church, who has appeared as Flint Marko (aka The Sandman) in Raimi's Spider-Man 3 and Marvel Studios' Spider-Man: No Way Home, told Comicbook.com that if he could appear in any other Spider-Man movie, he would want it to be Raimi's Spider-Man 4.

"There's always been some kind of…I've heard rumors…that Sam Raimi was going to do another [Spider-Man movie] with Tobey [Maguire] and if that happens, I would probably campaign to maybe at least do a cameo," Church said.

Raimi has been attached to a fourth Spider-Man project for years, with Sony even pushing the film into pre-production at one point.

And last year, he told MoviePilot he's down for returning to the project.

"I didn't think it was possible but after jumping back in with the multiverse, I realised that anything is possible now so I'm completely open to it," he said.

This was after he directed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which saw loads of characters from different dimensions interact with one another.

Raimi told Fandango in another interview: "I love Tobey. I love Kirsten Dunst. I think all things are possible.

"I don't really have a story or a plan.

"I don't know if Marvel would be interested in that right now. I don't know what their thoughts are about that.

"I haven't really pursued that. But it sounds beautiful. Even if it wasn't a Spider-Man movie, I'd love to work with Tobey again, in a different role."

As for Maguire, he already reprised his role as Spider-Man alongside Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield in Marvel's Spider-Man: No Way Home, so it seems like he would be up to returning to the iconic role.

And finally, Sony Pictures’ official Twitter account responded to a fan asking about Spider-Man 4 by saying that 'anything is possible'.

All our webbed fingers are crossed.
