The Shawshank Redemption is back on top of IMDb's rankings after briefly being supplanted, and normal order has been restored.
We're on the cusp of what sounds like cinematic greatness in the form of the Dune sequel as it's set to release today (29 February), with the first film fans making it into cinemas for a science-fiction spectacle.
While Dune: Part Two has been attracting rave reviews and sounds like it's successfully stuck the landing set up in the first film, would it really be considered the greatest movie of all time?

Everyone's going to have a different ranking, but one of the better places to get a general gist of the best regarded movies is the IMDb rankings.
Millions of scores have combined to create the sort of top 10 list most film fans would go googly-eyed for.
For a short while Dune: Part Two managed to clamber to the top of this list, having managed to get an average rating of 9.4, which took it above The Shawshank Redemption's magnificent tally of 9.3.

However, it's still early days for people to be rating Dune: Part Two and at time of writing the movie's rating has slipped to the still incredibly respectable 9.1, which would still be enough to make it IMDb's third highest rated film ever.
At this point there's only around 15,000 ratings for the second Dune film, so that score will likely shift up and down for a while before it really settles.
Right now Dune: Part Two is not on the board for IMDb, but it it sticks where it is now it'll supplant The Dark Knight for the third spot.
Compare that to the 2.9 million people who gave The Shawshank Redemption a rating and understand why that lead looks so gosh darn difficult to shift.

What you should take away from this is that Dune: Part Two seems to be a sumptuously splendid movie and there's no shame in being ever so slightly less well reviewed than the splendid Shawshank Redemption.
As for IMDb's current top 10 movies, top spot is obviously Shawshank, with The Godfather in a close second with a 9.2 rating.
If the second Dune movie was ready to enter the chart it'd be next, but instead third place is occupied by The Dark Knight.

Next come The Godfather Part II, 12 Angry Men and Schindler's List, while the seventh and ninth spots are taken by Lord of the Rings movies The Return of the King and The Fellowship of the Ring respectively.
Sandwiched between them in eighth place is Pulp Fiction, while the last spot belongs to The Good, The Bad and the Ugly.
