One of the main stars of Grand Theft Auto V has spoken out after a former Rockstar developer gave a worrying update to gamers on the state of GTA 6.
Expected to be released to the public in the second half of 2025, Grand Theft Auto VI is the most anticipated game since its predecessor, firmly having a stranglehold on all things action and open world.
Fans have been restless for years when it comes to the next instalment. And you can't really blame them given they have now been waiting more than a decade with only slivers of new information coming out on a very sporadic basis.

The internet went crazy last December when developer Rockstar Games shared the first ever trailer for the epic game, which included a whole load of references to real life incidents. You can see that below:
Focusing on a character called Lucia and her currently unnamed male accomplice, it'll be set within the fictional US of Leonida, which is heavily based upon Florida and the Miami-inspired Vice City - a place that needs no introduction to fans of the series.
In the last 24 hours, one developer who used to work for Rockstar has spoken out about what fans can expect in GTA 6. And he thinks it could be an overwhelming disappointment for some who are expecting the world and more.

Speaking to YouTuber SanInPlay on his channel, former Rockstar Games technical director, Obbe Vermeij, spoke candidly on what could be awaiting us in a year's time.
Vermeij said: "I don’t think it’s going to be wildly different from GTA 5.
"I think maybe people might be a little disappointed on the first day but it’s still going to be the best game out there.

"It’s going to be a good game for sure."
For Vermeij it's not a criticism per se, but more due to the state of things in the gaming industry and the smaller technological advances in the gaming world.
"There’s some rumours about creating new technology having to do with animation and AI and all that stuff," he said.
"I think it’s time for a revolution where animation is more so AI-driven and physics-driven. If anyone is gonna make that step, it’s gonna be Rockstar."

One actor who starred in the GTA universe wasn't having the criticism one bit.
Ned Luke, whose voice you should immediately for his role as Michael De Santa in GTA 5, took to Twitter to give his two cents on the issue.
Responding to Vermeij's comments on GTA 6 not being 'wildly different' to its predecessor, Luke posted: "What the hell does this guy know?

"15 minutes [of fame] over. You're fishing hard @DJSan_ [the X account of SanInPlay]."
Responding, the YouTuber posted: "I think that you maybe bited the bait, buddy.. thats the context of the Obbe Vermeij declaration.
"I hope that you can check the interview. He just been coherent on him affirmation. The media that is distorting."
Given that Vermeij no longer works for Rockstar, it's fair to take his comments with a pinch of salt.
It's not stopped some fans from getting upset, though, with some posting saying they might hold off buying it to see what the reviews say.
