Competitive gaming is nothing new to most of us, especially if you grew up in an age where the biggest argument when your friends came over would be who gets the “good” controller. Things have escalated somewhat in the past few years though, to the point where esports athletes are as focused and highly trained (not to mention dedicated) as you would expect in any other sport.
You probably know all of this already though, given the exponential rise in esports’ popularity in recent years. In fact, it’s gotten to the stage where a worldwide academy co-owned by none other than Olympic Gold Medallist Usain Bolt is helping to nurture the next generation of talent on these shores.
Yes, you read that correctly. WYLDE’s Academy in Cork, powered by the latest Superfast Broadband from Virgin Media, provides esports gamers the training and support they need to compete with the very best.
The thing is though, you never really know where the next generational talent is going to come from. Just like the best footballers of today were kicking a ball about on the street until they were picked by scouts, the best gamers in Ireland are likely gaming for fun and getting yelled at for spending so much time playing video games.
In fact, they could be reading this article right now…
Does your team have what it takes?
There’s only one way to find the best gamers in Ireland. Virgin Media and WYLDE have teamed up to find the country’s best VALORANT team, and reward them with an incredible six-month contract as part of their official academy, powered by Virgin Media’s Superfast 1Gb broadband.
VALORANT teams from all over the country are being asked to enter the competition, with the cream of the crop eventually progressing to the pre-qualifiers. From there, teams will battle it out for a spot in the main event in front of a live audience in Dublin on Wednesday, 18 October.
This epic finale will be live streamed on Twitch, with live commentators and content creators there on the night to help build what is set to be an incredible atmosphere. To up the ante even more (and we don’t know how much more ante we can take), there’s a €5,000 up for grabs as well.
It’s also fitting that it is taking place in The Camden on the 18th of October, which is Ireland’s biggest sports bar. It isn’t every day that Irish gamers have the chance to compete at this level, and the winning team will be named as the official WYLDE Academy VALORANT team.
To enter, first you need to record a video to show who you are, why you want to enter, your in-game stats and why you want to be part of the WYLDE team. The WYLDE team will be taking a look at applications and narrowing it down and setting up the pre-qualifiers, so be sure to show them why you deserve to be in the mix!
Make no mistake, this is the opportunity of a lifetime. Not only will you have the chance to test your mettle against the best of the best, but that shiny six-month contract will get your foot in the door of the rapidly expanding world of professional gaming.
If you want to attend the event and simply marvel at the incredible skill on show, keep an eye out for more details about how to get tickets. Whether you’re competing or spectating, this is not an evening to be missed!
It’s the ultimate Playtime! It’s time to sign your team up for the Virgin Media A-Games, Ireland’s biggest VALORANT competition. Does your team have what it takes to be in with a chance of winning a once in a lifetime professional esports contract with WYLDE Academy powered by Virgin Media?
