Halle Berry hits out at backlash mistaking her for star of new Little Mermaid live action movie

With Disney dropping the trailer for the highly-awaited under the sea extravaganza, confusion between the two actors has swelled.

Halle Berry has responded after a misguided fan thought that she was Halle Bailey, who will appear as Ariel in Disney’s live-action version of The Little Mermaid.

As Disney has just unveiled that highly anticipated trailer for the remake of this old timely fable, one fan has confused the two actors.

Say it with me people, HAL-LE BAI-LEY,

BuzzFeed reported the mix-up occurred when an unnamed user wrote in a since-deleted tweet: “Halle Berry is nearly 60 playing the role of a 16-year-old girl.

They added: “This is what happens when you upset a fandom.”

Well, one way to upset the fandom is to get the lead film actor’s name wrong. Rule number one of Fight Club.

The tweet got the attention of Berry herself, who responded with an appropriate meme of the comedian, Monique, sitting down while looking unimpressed.

But the confusion only snowballed from there, as another tweeted: “HALLE BERRY IS ARIEL SUCK ON THAT.”

Another shared: “I really hope the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid is good,I remember watching the original when I was little and seeing Halle Berry as Ariel is gorgeous. If this gets tainted also, I’m going to lose all hope in live action Disney movies.”

While a third person said: “Halle berry giving me chills as Ariel.”

However, this isn’t the first time the former Bond girl has had to clear things up. Back in December, a fan tweeted the 56-year-old actor: “Can't wait to see you under da sea!”

To which she responded: “… wrong Halle lol. I can’t wait to see her too though!”

Bailey, theone who is actually playing the famed Disney character, is a star in her own right.

But the upcoming film adaptation set to make her a household name.

In her short career, Bailey is already a five-time Grammy award-nominated artist and part of the music collective Chloe x Halle.

And if that weren’t impressive enough, the duo were signed to Beyonce’s record label in 2015 while still in high school.

But The Little Mermaid is not the only film in the works for Bailey, as the 22-year-old will also star as young Nettie in the remake of The Colour Purple.

We’re expecting big things for Ms Bailey.... and not Halle Berry, just to be clear. She's already hit 'legend' status in our eyes.
