The P.S I Love You star, aged 48, described the couple's exciting news as 'a total miracle'.
"I'm gonna be a mom! And not just of one, but of two," Swank revealed.
"This is something that I’ve been wanting for a long time."
She added: "It's so nice to be able to talk about it and share it."
She also shared the big news to social media shortly after, posting an image of her baby bump with the caption: "Coming soon…DOUBLE feature."

Swank later clarified on Live With Kelly And Ryan, gushing to the TV show's hosts about how excited she is to soon be able to call herself a mum.
"I’m feeling great right now," he told hosts Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest.
She added that her clothes have 'started not to fit' and revealed that the cast and crew of her new TV show Alaska Daily did not know she was expecting until her Wednesday announcement on national TV.
The actor recalled that, at one point while shooting Alaska Daily, she had to cut her jeans open because they no longer fit her and put a jacket over her costume.

"[They] came and said, 'That’s not in continuity', [so] I said, ‘Oh, I think it works'.
She then told producers she would make the look work, with TV execs still not cottoning on to her big news.
The new ABC drama stars Swank as Eileen Fitzgerald, a journalist working in Alaska.

She relocates to the frozen US state from New York after taking a major hit to her professional reputation as an investigative reporter.
The show is created by Tom McCarthy, who penned the 2015 Oscar-winning film Spotlight about the Boston Globe’s investigation of sexual abuse by Catholic priests.
Swank has been vocal about her plans for children over the years.
“I definitely would like kids someday,” the Boys Don’t Cry star told People in 2006. "That’s definitely something that I’ve always thought about as a very, very young girl."

Swank noted at the time that she 'loves kids', but added: "That would be an important 'thing to happen for me someday whenever the time is right."
She married her now-husband a year later and the rest, as they say, is history.
