The open world game, which will eventually be playable on Playstation, Xbox, PC and Nintendo Switch, was previously expected to be released some time in late 2022 - with fans online speculating that November might be the month.

However, on Friday (12 August), the game's official Twitter account confirmed the news that its been pushed back to 10 February 2023.
“Hogwarts Legacy will launch on February 10, 2023 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The Nintendo Switch launch date will be revealed soon,” their tweet reads.
“The team is excited for you to play, but we need a little more time to deliver the best possible game experience.”
While it isn't too much of an extension to the rumoured date (holiday 2022), Nintendo Switch users have some cause for concern, as no timeframe for the release of the handheld version of the game has yet been announced.

The official Hogwarts Legacy trailer landed on YouTube way back in September 2020, whetting the appetite of fans everywhere with slick clips of gameplay.
With the PS5 trailer racking up almost 30 million views, it's clear that there is still very much a market for a Harry Potter video game of this nature in 2022 - despite the film franchise now being well over two decades old.
Its been just under a decade since the last Harry Potter-inspired console game hit the shelves.

Where 2013's Book of Potions enjoyed modest success on PS3 only, Hogwarts Legacy is expected to obliterate its predecessor in terms of global sales.
Much of the fascination concerns the plot of the upcoming title, as it has been described as a prequel to the Harry Potter films.
Hogwarts Legacy is set in the late 1800s, which means you won't cross paths with any of the icons from the books and films. Even Dumbledore himself wasn't born until 1881, so the team at Avalanche Software has been given the freedom to introduce a whole new cast of characters while staying true to the origins of the books.
Earlier this week, one Reddit user made a discovery within an element of the game’s concept art, which seems to indicate that we might be able to explore the Black Lake in the game, either by swimming or using boats. Still unconfirmed as of the time of writing, it's certainly an inclusion that fans would love - if the reaction on Reddit is anything to go by.
