Jason Momoa is embracing his self-labelled ‘dad bod’ after undergoing recent surgery, saying the process has slowed down his exercise regime – not that everyone’s convinced a lack of sit-ups has done much damage to his physique.
The Aquaman star appeared on Tuesday’s episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden, where the pair discussed everything from the school drop off to Momoa taking his kids to see Billie Eilish and the Rolling Stones.
But before they got into things, host James Corden asked his guest how he was doing after he had to undergo hernia operation the day before the Oscars back in March.

“How are you feeling?” Corden asked.
“You recently had hernia surgery. How are you feeling – are you all recovered?”
Momoa replied: “It’s all good. Still not really doing sit ups, just trying to keep that dad bod going a little longer. You know what I mean?”

But Corden hit back: “Can I say, you can’t say you’ve got a dad bod!
He added: “You can’t, it’s not a dad bod. It’s not. It isn’t.”
Momoa laughed along coyly, patting his stomach and saying: “Well, I don't want to do any more sit-ups!"

His fellow guest Kristen Bell then came to his defence, jokingly scolding Corden by saying firmly: “He can say anything he wants!”
Momoa spoke about the hernia operation on the Oscars red carpet earlier this year, revealing that it was all down to ‘throwing bodies’ around.
“I had surgery yesterday,” the star told Extra at the time.

When asked why he’d needed the procedure, Momoa replied: “Throwing bodies around. I’m getting old, bro. It ain’t that CinemaCon from 2016, you know what I’m saying?”
He also previously needed surgery after scratching his cornea while shooting Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, saying he feels like an ‘ageing superhero’.
Speaking about his health woes on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last year, the actor said: "I'm getting old is what's happening.

"I got a little, uh, I messed up my eyes. Just got something in it that kind of cut it up. And I gotta get surgery."
Momoa assured DeGeneres that he ‘can see’, adding: “We're good to go."
However, he went on to explain other issues he was dealing with, including that pesky hernia and some misplaced ribs.
Speaking about the forthcoming Aquaman flick, he continued: "I'm just getting beat up. But it's gonna be a great movie. You're gonna love it.
"I just kinda give it, yeah. I love my job and I get a little too excited. And then, you know, the age thing."
When Momoa humbly referred to himself as an ‘ageing superhero right now’, DeGeneres corrected him, quipping: "You're a good-looking ageing superhero is what you are."
